JUMBLEaya Professional OrganizingTM was founded in June of 1996 in Washington, DC. In the beginning, our goal was to provide professional organizing advice to those constantly finding themselves overwhelmed by the clutter in their homes, offices and personal lives. Over five years later, we are pleased to say that we offer and give so much more than advice in this incredible industry of Professional Organizing.

A Short History Lesson ^
Professional Organizing has been around for more than 25 years. We all organize in some way or another everyday without even realizing it. If you make a list before going to the grocery store--that's organizing. If you decide not to answer the telephone while you are going through the monthly bills--that's organizing. Most Professional Organizers began because they found they had a knack for staying organized and decided to turn it into a lucrative business by sharing their "know-how" with others. The National Association of Professional Organizers, or NAPO, began in 1985 in Texas. NAPO has a membership of over 10,000 professional organizers and professional organizing companies that offer a variety of services. Professional Organizers do everything from time management consulting to physically organizing a home or office to giving money management advice to event planning. NAPO is very helpful to those seeking professional advice or to someone interested in entering the organizing industry. The organization also holds an annual convention in a major city in the US. In 1997 the convention was held in Washington, DC.

Because we have this "knack" for organizing and wanted to be in business for ourselves, we started JUMBLEaya Professional Organizing. We began by shadowing another professional organizer for several months, but our real experience came from the many "volunteer" and very inexpensive jobs we did. Since the beginning, our company has continued to grow and we added Event Planning in 1998. Our goal is to provide a service that will reduce the stress in your life and keep you organized at the same time. We can help you eliminate clutter for good, and teach you how to be more efficient in every aspect of your life no matter which service you are seeking.

Professional Organizing and Event Planning are personal services, and at first thought may seem intrusive. Having a stranger come in to your office or home to look through your personal things, or the thought of someone taking over the planning of your event probably feels scary, but we're professionals and it is our job to make you feel comfortable with us and your decision to get organized.

Where Did You Get the Name? ^
The New Orleans dish Jambalaya inspired our name. It is a traditional potluck dish that combines meats and seafood all jumbled together and seasoned with a variety of tasty spices.

Our Very Own Recipe for Jambalaya ^
Ingredients Instructions
2 lbs. smoked Andouille sausages
2 lbs. ham
2 lbs. shrimp (deveined)
1 cup chopped yellow onion
1 cup chopped bell pepper
1 cup chopped celery
16 oz. whole tomato
11/2 -2 cups rice
2 cups water or stock
5-7 minced garlic cloves
1/2 tsp. Cayenne pepper
1/2 cup cooking oil
1 tsp. Thyme
2 bay leaves
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt

1. Brown sausage and ham in a skillet and drain.
2. Sauté onions, bell pepper and celery until tender.
3. Mix meat with sautéed vegetables, and add water or stock, tomatoes and spices and bring to a boil.
4. Add rice and shrimp and reduce heat to simmer. Stir.
5. Cook for 30
minutes or until rice and shrimp are done. Do not stir while cooking.
6. Once cooked, add 1/2 cup chopped parsley and shallots.
